ENTER THE
LITHIUM UNIVERSE
Iggy Tan and the team at Lithium Universe (ASX: LU7) are on a mission to leverage their mineral processing expertise to develop bold, new technologies and infrastructure projects that are essential to the supply of precious and critical materials, such as gold, silver and lithium, for the transition to a circular energy economy.
OUR PROJECTS
RECYCLING TECHNOLOGY:
Recovering Critical Minerals
...and unlock new supplies of valuable critical minerals.
RECOVERING SILVER
As part of its collaboration with the Macquarie University Team, Lithium Universe has acquired the rights to Jet Electrochemical Silver Extraction (JESE) Technology.
Recycling and extracting silver from solar panels presents a lucrative business opportunity due to the substantial amount of silver in each panel—approximately 20 grams, equating to around A$36 in value. As the demand for silver increases, especially in industries like electronics and renewable energy, recovering silver from end-of-life panels can become a valuable and sustainable revenue stream.
RECOVERING COPPER GOLD
Lithium Universe has secured an exclusive global licence from the University of Edinburgh for a breakthrough process to recover gold and copper from waste computers, phones, and circuit boards (e-waste).
E-waste generation is estimated to be about 93.5 Mt by 2030 of which 80% ends up in landfill
The University of Edinburgh’s innovation centres on a class of organic molecules known as tertiary diamide ligand; small, reusable compounds that act like selective “magnets” for valuable metals such as gold. Separating these metals has traditionally required multiple chemical steps involving harsh reagents and toxic waste.
LITHIUM REFINING:
Closing the Lithium Gap
North America’s battery manufacturing industry will increase ten-fold in the next decade. At the same time, new government regulations mean that these battery manufacturers are facing a significant shortage of locally produced lithium chemical because of limited refining facilities available to turn raw lithium into battery-grade material.
As a result, Lithium Universe has a significant opportunity to develop a mine-to-battery-grade lithium strategy in Canada that addresses the problem we call…
...the Lithium Conversion Gap.
To take advantage of this opportunity and fill the missing piece in the supply chain, Lithium Universe is developing a state-of-the-art Lithium Carbonate facility in Quebec, Canada.
Early in 2025, Lithium Universe released a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) outlining its plan to build a new lithium carbonate refinery in Québec, Canada. But unless you’re a Mining Engineer with an MBA and a side hustle in international trade politics, there are likely a whole lot of numbers that may not mean a whole lot.
In this video explainer, we break it down into the ones that really matter.
